Schools

There are two Church of England schools within the parish; both of which have good links to St James The Great Church Bierton.

Bierton CE Combined School

There is a Church of England VC Combined School in Bierton, and the church is represented by two Diocesan Foundation Governors. There are at present 280 pupils from reception to year 6. The School is held in very high regard, applications for admission always exceed the number available. The last Ofsted Report proclaimed it 'a very good school'. There are now excellent links with the school which is actively encouraged to use St James the Great Church Bierton as a teaching and collective worship resource. The School now hold their Harvest Festival Services in church and a termly School and Community Eucharist is held in the school. The Vicar who is one of the Foundation Governors takes Collective Worship every other week in school and is also available to assist with the teaching of the RE curriculum. Buckingham Park CE Primary School

There is a Church of England VA Primary School in Buckingham Park, a new housing development on the northern edge of Aylesbury. As this school is voluntary aided the majority of its governors are Diocesan Foundation Governors with the Vicar of St James the Great Church being an ex-officio member of the Governing Body. The Vicar is currently Chair of the Governing Body. This is a new school which opened in September 2012 and when full will have just under 500 pupils including a nursery. It is already building an excellent reputation as a school and has recently undergone its first Ofsted inspection and was found to be a good school.

From the beginning good links have been encouraged with St James the Great Church Bierton and all the pupils have visited the church. The Vicar takes Collective Worship every other week in the school and has even conducted a marriage. Of course, no one was really getting married but some brave Year 2 children played a leading role.
